Sussex Cricket League

2008 SEASON

The Sussex Cricket League is the ECB Accredited Premier League in Sussex.

Welcome to our Web Site. This provides information about the League's stucture, Officials, etc. It also contains full results and fixture details, plus links to the Web Sites of the member clubs of the League. Follow the links above.

* * WE ARE NOW A 40 CLUB LEAGUE!* *
The League now has four Divisions of 10 clubs. These comprise the Premier Division, Division 2, and Division 3 (East) and Division 3 (West). All 40 clubs will be involved in a full promotion and relegation process at the end of the season, with 2-up/2-down between the Premier and 2nd Divisions. Between the 2nd and 3rd Divisions two clubs will be relegated and two promoted (one from each of Div 3 (East) and Div 3 (West)).
It is the intention to extend the promotion and relegation process so that, eventually, there is movement between the two 3rd Divisions and the East Sussex/Sussex Invitation Leagues. This will not happen before the end of the 2010 season, at the earliest.

* * RESULTS SERVICE* *

SPECIAL NOTICE - POINTS DEDUCTION
Crawley 1st XI have been deducted 15 points for a series of offences under the League's Registration Rules (fielding an unregistered player). In applying what is regarded as a minimum penalty, the Executive Committee took account of the fact that the offences were not deliberate, and that the club concerned was unused to the operation of the relevant rules. Nevertheless the Committee decided that the offence could not be overlooked entirely.

RESULTS
All individual match results for all Divisions are posted in the Results Section - accessed from the Menu Bar above. League Tables are created automatically and can also be accessed/downloaded as required.
SCORECARDS
All Premier and Division 2 Clubs (1st XIs) are now required to input player details and full scorecards via their own Play-Cricket Websites. These will appear on this Site as part of each detailed match result. As the season progresses a full picture will be given, including individual best performance details, averages, and so on.
It is hoped that as many as possible of the 3rd Division Clubs (and all 2nd/3rd XIs) will also avail themselves of the opportunity to input scorecard details, so helping to create a comprehensive picture of the League's playing activisties.
TONY MILLARD'S WEEKLY REPORTS
These are also posted here, initially under Latest Sussex Cricket League News - accessed below. As the Season progresses earlier reports will be placed in the Library.

* * DISCIPLINARY MATTERS* *
DISCIPLINARY ACTION IN 2008
An updated summary record of all the Disciplinary Committee's proceedings in the current season is now available Follow this Link to read it.
In the latest case it is noteworthy that the Club concerned (St James's Montefiore) - which has a "zero tolerance" policy in place - took action against the offending player before the case was formally referred by the League.
The Disciplinary Committee commends this action and hopes that it will be noted by other clubs.
